UK Online Premier: up to 16Mb download speed, up to 1Mb upload speed, free McAfee Internet Security Suite for 12 months (worth £49.99), up to 20 free UK Online email addresses with 200MB of storage each - FROM £24.99 PER MONTH

All prices include VAT. All packages have unlimited downloads (fair use policy applies). Lite has a £25 connection fee, Pro has no connection fee until 31/10/07 (then £25), Premier has no connection fee at any time.

Superfast broadband providers

Broadband speeds may be a lot slower in the UK than in other parts of the world but some broaband providers here have upgraded their equipment enough to be able to offer broadband speeds of up to a superfast 24Mb.

More superfast broadband packages

More broadband providers are starting to offer superfast broadband deals (10 meg and above). Check some of them out below.

Virgin broadband via Cable Size: XL, up to 10 meg, now only £29 per month for 12 months. Offer ends 30/06/07.

Up to 16 meg. Sign up for a Sky bundle and if you select the MAX broadband option you can get up to 16 meg. Package prices vary.

Unlimited Broadband from UK Online for only £24.99 per month. With 22Mb there's no limit to what you can do online.

With Be Broadband you could get up to 24Mb download speed for only £14 to £24 a month! Be Unlimited, Be Lite, and Be Pro.

Make sure you check broadband availability in your area as these superfast packages may not be available to everyone. UK Online free set up offer extended

The UK Online free set up offer has been extended - you can now get FREE SET UP on their two fastest home broadband packages.

Sign up to UK Online Superfast 22 Meg Broadband or UK Online up to 8 meg broadband and you won't have to pay for connection - a saving of £25. This offer now ends on 30 June 2007.

20 meg broadband for 29 pounds a month

Virgin Media's new offer saving £8 a month on cable broadband packages for a year means that if your area can receive their new superfast up to 20 meg broadband you can sign up to it for only £29 per month for the first 12 months. The £8-a-month discount is available if you sign up before 30/09/07. (After 12 months, the price reverts to the standard XL broadband price of £37 per month.)

They're upgrading users to the faster broadband speeds area by area from summer onwards. View the roll-out plan here. (The plan will be updated through the summer).

Anyone on their XL cable broadband broadband package will enjoy a free upgrade to the new 20 meg service once it is available in their area so you can still sign up to that and receive up to 10 meg for only £29 per month for 12 months if you want to take advantage of the special offer. (A few areas may only get up to 16 meg initially).

It goes without saying that you should check with the provider to ensure these offers are still current when you sign up - or whether they have an even better offer by then!

Starter broadband packages

According to the latest report from the industry / government forum The Broadband Stakeholder Group, broadband in the UK has reached 99.6% availability.
