Virgin Media licenced to thrill

This week Virgin Media is making all 21 James Bond films available on its TV on demand service.

That's all six Bonds, over 40 Bond villains and, of course, 40 official Bond girls.

For the first time ever in the UK, all 21 James Bond movies will be exclusively available to view anytime - from 1962's Dr No through to last year's box office smash Casino Royale. The Bond collection will be available on Virgin Media from 16 May with prices from £2.50 for a classic Bond title and £3.50 for Casino Royale.

With TV on demand, customers can start the film whenever they choose and pause, fast forward or rewind it just like a DVD. All Virgin TV packages include access to TV on demand - a huge library of entertainment that includes over 500 films from FilmFlex, all stored on the network and available anytime.

Virgin Media offers 20 Meg broadband

Virgin Media is starting to roll out up to 20 meg broadband across their network.

And if you sign-up to their 10Mb XL cable broadband service you'll receive a "seamless upgrade to 20Mb" when they upgrade your area.

What does 20 meg mean for you? According to Virgin Media, you could "download an MP3 track in 2 seconds or an episode of your favourite TV show in just two and a half minutes".

They're upgrading users area by area from summer onwards. View the roll-out plan here. (The plan will be updated through the summer).

The upgrade will be free for XL broadband customers.

Virgin Media cable broadband offer

It hardly seems any time at all since the last Virgin Media offer, but they've brought out a special online offer which is ideal for broadband first-timers and light users.

The cable broadband Size M package is now reduced from £18 per month to just £14.99 per month. That's an annual saving of over £36.

This broadband package has a download speed of up to 2 meg making it a good starter package if you're new to broadband, or if you and your family just use your high speed internet connection for lower-bandwith online tasks such as web surfing and email. (If you want to download music, films and TV shows, watch live TV on your PC, play games, etc you would be better with their faster packages Broadband Size L or Broadband Size XL.)

2Mb Telewest broadband 10 GBP a month

This is an amazing offer - up to 2Mb cable broadband from Telewest for only £10 per month for the first year (£17.99 per month after that).

This offer ends on 31 January 2007 so if you're interested you'll need to hurry! This offer is available to new customers and existing phone customers who do not have a broadband service. There is an installation charge of £25 for existing customers or if taken by new customers without a phone service.

There aren't that many £10 and under deals for broadband only. Often the cheapest broadband is only available if you sign up for a phone package at extra cost, eg PipexMini with Anytime Calls (Unlimited phone calls to 01 and 02 numbers) for only £6.50 per month (the phone package adds an extra £12.50 a month). The Pipex deal is excellent if you're looking for a phone package too but for those wanting broadband only, this new Telewest deal could be ideal. You can get BT Total Broadband option 1 (up to 8Mb) for only £9.95 per month but after six months it goes up to £17.99 per month.

You'll need to make sure you can get cable in your area - in the UK most urban areas have cable and you can check whether you can get it with our broadband availability checker at www.ukbroadbandfinder.com.
